Ferrari has taken the wraps off its latest model – a wild, 770-horsepower version of the F12 Berlinetta.
Known as the F12tdf, the limited-edition model pays homage to the Tour de France success Ferrari saw throughout the 1950s and 1960s. Powered by a 6.3-litre V12, the F12tdf is tuned to produce 40 more horsepower than the standard F12, bringing total output to 770 horsepower and 520 lb.-ft. of torque.
All that kick is sent to the rear wheels via a revised dual-clutch transmission programmed for quicker upshifts, downshifts and shorter gearing, leading to a zero-to-1oo km/h time of just 2.9 seconds, before topping out at 339 km/h.
Along with the engine and transmission enhancements, the F12tdf is 110 kilograms lighter and gets a rear-wheel steering system for better response and stability, as well as uprated brakes lifted from the LaFerrari. As for aerodynamics, the F12tdf slices through the wind better than the standard F12 thanks to a revised front and rear fascia and bigger wings.
