You probably saw this coming, but there aren’t any diesels in the running for the 2016 Green Car of the Year award.

Now in their 10th year, Green Car Journal recently named the finalists vying for this year’s title. Recently, the publication stripped the Jetta and A3 TDI from their 2008 and 2010 wins, respectively, following Volkswagen’s ongoing diesel emissions scandal.

Hence, two plug-in, one hybrid and two gas-powered car are competing for the win. The Audi A3 e-tron and and the Chevrolet Volt are the plug-ins, while the Honda Civic is one of the two gas cars. The Hyundai Sonata also falls under that umbrella, but Green Car Journal is giving the entire Sonata family a shot – including the new-for-2016 Sonata Hybrid. Finally, rounding out the pack is the 2016 Toyota Prius as the only pure hybrid.

This year’s winner will be announced at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. In the meantime, vote for which car should win in our poll and check out the full details on this year’s Green Car of the Year finalists.
