It’s no question predicting the future and time travel are a shot in the dark. In fact, not to rain on anyone’s parade, but they’re both pretty much impossible.
Still, that doesn’t stop anyone from trying. Case in point: 30 years ago, Marty McFly and Doc Brown travelled to this very day – October 21, 2015 – with their lightly modified DeLorean DMC-12.
Back to the Future II isn’t what we’d call an accurate depiction of the future. Certainly, it got some things right – we have cameras everywhere, we can mount TVs on the wall and we have video glasses thanks to Google Glass. Heck, we even have hoverboard (well, kind of) and tiny computers in our pockets.
As for the cars? Well, that’s a bit of a miss. Sure, AeroMobil is trying to make flying cars happen, but for the most part, cars are still grounded by gravity. We can’t do a “hoverconversion,” but at least today’s cars look better, right?

Don’t you wish the BMW 6 Series actually looked like this?

Now in 2015: BMW 6 Series Convertible

In 2015, this is what our BMW 6 Series looks like. No hovering capabilities to speak of.

Hovering Ford Mustangs have nothing on the actual 2015 Mustang.

If there’s one car that looks pretty much identical in imaginary 2015 and real-life 2015…

Then in 2015: Ford Probe

You could practically skate a hoverboard over the “2015” Ford Probe.

Now in 2015: Well, Ford doesn’t make the Probe anymore. We can’t imagine a 2015 Ford Probe would look like this, anyway.
Then in 2015: Citroen D’Special

Citroën DS taxis are a rare sight in 2015.

Now in 2015: We’re not sure what to make of this. Thankfully, sights like this Citroën DS aren’t the norm.
