In an industry first, French automaker Renault has unveiled a concept car that comes with its own flying quad-copter drone that monitors traffic.
The funky-looking Renault KWID concept, unveiled at the Indian auto expo, comes with a “Flying Companion” and is aimed at younger buyers who want the best and latest technology. The concept looks like a dune buggy and has a stocky, sporty stance.
The drone’s main purpose is to be a traffic spotter, but can also be used to take photos and detect obstacles on the road ahead. The done is controlled by a tablet integrated into the car’s dashboard. The car’s roof also has an integrated landing/takeoff dock for the drone.
The concept is meant to cement Renault’s growing interests in tapping into new emerging markets, including India.
