Hyundai is looking into adding a new small crossover, as well as a third luxury car, to its lineup.

According to a report out of Automotive News, Dave Zuchowski, CEO of Hyundai Motor America, says we could see a third luxury sedan join the Genesis and Equus family very soon.

“I think it’s fair to say that within a couple of years there may be another premium nameplate,” Zuchowski told Automotive News. “That’s a space where we think there’s some opportunity.”

Zuchowski declined to comment further, but there has been buzz floating around that Hyundai might add a BMW 3 Series competitor to its portfolio, a car internally known among Hyundai execs as the RK.

In addition, Zuchowski said Hyundai is also considering another compact crossover in its lineup, aimed at the likes of the the Buick Encore and the Kia Soul, as well as the Nissan Juke and the upcoming Honda Fit-based crossover, which is already on sale in Japan as the Vezel.

Zuchowski is cautious of building too many niche cars as he believes it could cannibalize sales of existing models, but says the company’s focus is “growing your volume by growing in segments where you aren’t in right now.”

“We’re always looking at segments that we’re not in right now that maybe we should be in based on where the market’s going,” he said. “We’re very intrigued by this B-segment CUV.”
