Audi has released a handful of sketches that give us a good idea of what to expect when the 2015 TT makes its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

The upcoming TT will be positioned more upmarket thanks to a look borrowed from the flagship R8. What we can see is a more angular headlight (which will include Audi’s new Matrix LED technology) and grille design, as well as squared-off bumpers. When Audi first introduced the TT, it was almost universally praised for its distinct and modern design. The upcoming model seems to stay true to its stylistic roots with a sleek roofline, bulging fenders and trademark trunklid design.

As for the greasy bits, the upcoming TT will be underpinned by Volkswagen’s new MQB platform. Rumour has it the TT will sport a unique floorpan and will incorporate high-strength steel and aluminum throughout the chassis and body in an effort to keep overall curb weight below 1,300 kg. In addition, based on the flexibility of the MQB platform, we could also see a whole host of TT variants, including a crossover.

The Geneva Motor Show kicks off on March 4.
