So, just how good is the McLaren P1? Well, according to this test, the $1.2-million British hypercar offers nothing short of an “experience of a lifetime.”
Chris Harris of Road & Track got a chance to mine the brain of Chris Goodwin, McLaren’s chief test driver, before taking the 903-horsepower plug-in hybrid out for a spin on the roads of Abu Dhabi and later the Yas Marina Grand Prix circuit.
What Harris found was a car that isn’t as intimidating as other supercars. The P1 is undeniably fast, but it still maintains civil manners for just crawling about on public roads. As Goodwin says in the video, the P1 is a “very, very fast road car” first and foremost.
And what about its track performance? Well, judging by Harris’s breathless reaction — in which he calls the car “a freak, it’s genius” — it’s fair to say the P1 really is in a class of its own. Watch the video below to see why.
