It’s yellow, it’s fast and it’s a Corvette: GM has confirmed the high-performance Z06 will make its debut at the North American International Auto Show in January.
GM hasn’t said much about what will underpin the 2015 Corvette Z06, but it did promise not only the “most track capable Corvette ever,” but “supercar levels of performance.” Given the track capabilities of the Camaro Z/28, that might not be much of a challenge after all.
GM is keeping tight-lipped on the Z06, but the C6 Corvette Z06 was powered by a 7.0-litre V8, good for 505 horsepower. Putting that into perspective, the current C7 Corvette pumps out 450 horsepower and incorporates plenty of aluminum and carbon fibre in its chassis and body. Needless to say, the upcoming Z06 has a lot of room to grow.
The Detroit auto show, arguably the largest in North America, kicks off on Jan. 14.
