Volkswagen will debut an all-new compact crossover concept at the Geneva Motor Show.

Slotting below the Tiguan, the T-ROC utilizes the same MQB platform as the latest Golf and Audi A3. Designed with off-road capability in mind, the T-ROC rides significantly higher and comes with a 2.0-litre tubodiesel engine, good for 184 horsepower and 280 lb.-ft. of torque available as early as 1,750 rpm. Power is sent full-time to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Volkswagen says the T-ROC completes the requisite rest-to-100 km/h run in 6.9 seconds.

Outside, the T-ROC comes with two cameras mounted on each end facing forward and backward. LED spotlights, a removable roof that splits into two and 19-inch wheels with short overhangs complete the T-ROC’s off-road look. On the inside, the concept utilizes a removable tablet as part of its entertainment system and rather than a rear-view mirror, the T-ROC uses a high-definition screen in place, a concept similar to the Audi R18 e-tron race car.

The T-ROC concept will be joined by the refreshed 2015 Scirocco and Volkswagen’s new Polo lineup when the Geneva Motor Show kicks off next week.
