While the current Mazda2 is based on the same platform as the Ford Fiesta, the Hazumi appears to be all-Mazda, incorporating the Japanese automaker’s SkyActiv fuel-saying technology, Kodo “Soul of Motion” design language, Proactive Safety systems and next-generation Mazda Connect*2 car connectivity system.
Although it hasn’t been confirmed for the Canadian market, Mazda also unveiled for the first time its new small-displacement clean diesel engine, the SkyActiv-D 1.5. Like the European-market Skyactiv-D 2.2, Mazda says the new diesel engine is both “highly efficient and clean burning.”
Mazda’s Representative Director, President and CEO, Masamichi Kogai said of the Geneva concept, “Mazda Hazumi indicates the exciting direction of Mazda’s products which, with no exception, will deliver Mazda’s unique driving pleasure. We hope that they will enrich people’s lives, and help build a strong a nd lasting bond between Mazda and our customers.”
