The 2014 World Car of the Year finalists have been narrowed down to three contenders: the Audi A3, BMW 4 Series and the Mazda3.
The top three were chosen from a list of 12 finalists, which were narrowed down from a total of 24 contenders. The BMW i3, Cadillac CTS and Jeep Cherokee, as well as a trio of European entries from Citroen, Peugeot and Skoda, were among the previous contenders for the overall World Car of the Year award.
In addition to the overall award, finalists have been named for the World Luxury, Performance, Green and Car Design categories. They include:

The winner of the World Car of the Year is determined by a panel of 69 automotive journalists from 22 countries across the globe. To qualify for the overall World Car of the Year award, a car must be on sale in at least two continents from January 1, 2013 to May 31, 2014. The winners of each award will be announced at the New York International Autoshow next month.
