The Mini Paceman may be near the end of its line, the automaker’s parent BMW says, as Mini will try to regain its focus on pillar vehicles and cut niche offerings.

Mini needs to be “more relevant for more people,” Oliver Friedmann, Mini’s head of product management, told Automotive News Europe. ”Our first priority is to roll out a portfolio that has strong pillars and to be absolutely clear what each stands for.”

The models Mini will focus on include the Cooper hatch and convertible and Countryman compact crossover. It could also bring in a car based on the Clubman concept shown at the Geneva Motor Show.

The Paceman is a coupe based on the four-door Countryman, but it could be dropped when the Countryman is up for a redesign. Its sales have not been stellar.

“The Paceman is … not a first priority,” Friedmann said.
