Come 2015, the Lexus RC coupe and GS sedan will reportedly be the next models to receive the automaker’s new turbocharged engine.
We first saw the 2.0-litre turbo-four debut earlier this week in the all-new NX crossover at the Beijing Motor Show. According to a new report out of AutoGuide, in addition to the IS, the GS and RC will be available with the new engine by September 2015.
Although specific output numbers haven’t been announced thus far, the NX 200t is expected to pump out 237 horsepower. The turbo-four is expected to see a power bump — likely in the neighbourhood of 250 horsepower — in the IS, RC and GS, given their sporting roots.
The new turbocharged four-cylinder engine is expected to serve as a replacement for the company’s aging 2.5-litre V6, currently found in the entry-level IS 250 sedan.
