BMW will reportedly celebrate the M5′s 30th anniversary with a new limited-edition model.
The leak, coming from enthusiast forum Bimmerpost (hat tip to AutoGuide), suggests the automaker is planning a 30th anniversary edition of the M5 super sedan. It will be offered in Frozen Dark Silver Metallic and will boast various cosmetic tweaks, including dark chrome trim, 20-inch wheels and special ’30th Anniversary M5′ badges. Inside, the cosmetic tweaks continue with unique stitching and trim and various bits finished in Alcantara.
In addition, the 30th anniversary edition M5 will come standard with the Competition Package. Horsepower will be boosted to 592 from the standard 560, although torque will see a less significant increase to 516 lb.-ft. The only transmission option will be a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
The limited-edition M5 will likely make an official debut at the M Festival, which kicks off June 20 at the Nurburgring.
