Sometimes, 903 horsepower in a McLaren P1 is not enough. For those moments, rumour has it McLaren is preparing a track-only version of its halo supercar.
According to Autogespot, an unnamed source familiar with the matter says the car is already in development and will be offered to existing P1 owners in limited numbers. In an effort to make it more hardcore, the track-only P1 is expected to shed weight with the removal of redundant creature comforts — who needs GPS navigation, air conditioning and interior carpeting, anyway? — while the hybrid powertrain will remain.
Of course, these rumors are best taken with a rather large grain of salt. But given Ferrari is reportedly working on a LaFerrari FXX, the idea of a hardcore, track-only P1 could be a possibility after all.
