Joining the Model S sedan and the Model X crossover, Tesla will be introducing its “mass-market” electric vehicle at the Detroit auto show.

Only we won’t see it in a month. Speaking to AutoBild (hat tip to Electrek and AutoGuide), Tesla chief designer Franz von Holzhausen said the newest model will debut at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Known as the Model E, Tesla is pricing its “mass-market” EV in the $35,000 price braket. Von Holzhausen hasn’t revealed much else, only that the new model will more than “a small Model S” and will boast an “impressive range.”

As for the Model X, Von Holzhausen says the crossover is ready to go, but not before a handful of additional aerodynamic changes are made. Tesla is also reportedly working on a third-generation platform for its cars.

The announcement of the new car brings the Tesla family up to three cars: the Model S, the Model E and the Model X. Oh, that Elon Musk guy…
