Volkswagen has dished details on its upcoming dual-clutch automatic transmissions and diesel engines.

According to Car and Driver, Volkswagen research and development chief Heinz-Jakob Neusser said the company is still on track to launch a 10-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. First announced one year ago, the new gearbox has been designed specifically for VW’s new MQB platform architecture underpinning the latest Golf and the Audi A3, as well as a number of upcoming models.

The transmission will work in front- and all-wheel-drive configurations and can handle about 370 lb.-ft. of torque. Although we don’t know which models the new transmission will appear initially, VW says it can be paired to four-, five- and six-cylinder engines.

In addition to the 10-speed dual-clutch automatic, Neusser also detailed the company’s upcoming crop of four-cylinder turbodiesel engines. The upcoming EA288 will remain at 2.0-litres, but one configuration will utilize two turbochargers to produce an impressive 240 horsepower and 369 lb.-ft. of torque. A single-turbo EA288 will also be offered, rated at 204 horsepower and 280 lb.-ft. of torque.
