Nissan will be bringing back the Pulsar badge as a Volkswagen Golf rival.
Billed as a “spacious five-door hatchback”, Nissan says the new Pulsar will be exclusive to the European market, where it hasn’t sold a C-segment hatchback since the Almera was discontinued in 2006.
We don’t know much else about the look of the new Pulsar, but based on the teaser image, it will wear Nissan’s new ‘V Motion” design language, seen primarily in the V-shaped grille and LED daytime running lights up front.
When the Pulsar goes on sale this autumn, it will be manufactured at Nissan’s Barcelona, Spain plant. To accomodate the new model, Automotive News says Nissan has boosted production capacity to 80,000 cars annually.
Nissan hasn’t hinted if the Pulsar would find its way to North America, but considering the Sentra is offered exclusively as a sedan, it’s possible we could see it as a Sentra-badged hatchback in the future.
