Being the King of Cool, Steve McQueen naturally has an extensive history with some of the most gorgeous cars (and motorcycles) in existence. Everyone remembers the dark green Mustang Fastback from Bullitt, but the one you really, really want is the 1969 Porsche 917K. And now, it’s going up for auction.

U.S.-based Gooding & Company will have the Gulf-liveried Porsche up for grabs this August in Pebble Beach, along with other painfully gorgeous vintage cars. Although a price hasn’t been set, the auction firm expects McQueen’s 917K to beat the previous record as the most expensive vehicle it has sold, a title held by the 1957 Ferrari 250 TR and its US$16.4 million price tag according to Road and Track.

This 917K is Chassis No. 24, meaning it not only starred alongside Steve McQueen in Le Mans, it actually saw competition. It made its motorsports debut in 1969 at the 1000 km Spa race and set a lap record at the 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans during testing.Check out the rest of the cars up for grabs from Gooding & Company right here.
