Daimler and Nissan finalize joint venture to produce cars in Mexico

According to a report from Automotive News, Daimler and Nissan reached an agreement today to produce future Mercedes and Infiniti compact cars in Nissan’s Aguascalientes, Mexico plant. Further details about the joint venture will be announced during a conference on Friday.

The plant could possibly produce the upcoming Infiniti Q30. Nissan plans to make a “substantial investment” to develop vehicles on Daimler’s front drive architecture and build them at the Aguascalientes plant. Through the 50-50 partnership, Nissan hopes to broaden their premium line-up and Mercedes hopes to strengthen its relationship with Nissan.
