GM has released Canadian pricing for its new-for-2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon midsize pickups.

When the Colorado hits Chevy dealers later this year, it will do so with a $19,900 price tag, while the GMC Canyon will ring in slightly higher at $20,600.

Both the base Colorado and Canyon will be powered by a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine, rated at 200 horsepower. A six-speed manual comes standard, while a six-speed automatic is optional. Buyers looking for more power can opt for a 3.6-litre V6 good for 302 horsepower, although the only transmission option for that powertrain is a six-speed automatic.

Step up to the Colorado two-wheel-drive Colorado LT and GM asks $27,150, while the fully-loaded, four-wheel-drive LTZ tops out at $35,700. As for the GMC Canyon, the mid-range SLT 2WD starts at $28,800 with the extended cab and the top-level SLT 4WD will carry a $38,850 price tag.

GM will release more detailed pricing and fuel economy figures closer to when the trucks launch. A 2.8-litre turbodiesel is also expected to join the lineup in 2016.
