We told you about it a few weeks ago, but we now have our first glimpse at Audi’s latest concept headed to the Los Angeles Auto Show next month.
The image comes from Italian magazine Auto&Design, whcih claims to be an official teaser from Audi. But rather than being an outright replacement for the A8 sedan, the concept is said to be a flagship four-door coupe and will likely be badged as the A9 if it were to hit production.
Based on the image, the concept’s side profile and windows bear a resemblance to the A5 Sportback and A7, the two other four-door coupes in Audi’s lineup, but the vertical, almost wagon-like rear tailgate is a stylistic departure. If it were to be green-lit for production, it will likely be badged as the A9.
According to Auto&Design, the new concept will also usher in a new design language for Audi. Marc Lichte, Audi’s new design chief, calling it “something that will characterize the whole upcoming generation of cars” and representing “a major step forward in terms of sportiness.”
We’ll bring you more on Audi’s latest concept in the coming wheels, ahead of when the L.A. auto show kicks off on November 20.
