With Hyundai pulling the plug on the Genesis Coupe 2.0T and the Veloster not quite a hot hatch, the automaker is reportedly considering adding a new sports car to its lineup.
In an interview with Autocar UK, Hyundai’s European chief Allan Rushforth says Hyundai executives have talked about the possibility of introducing a sports car, but stopped short of confirming it.
If Hyundai follows through with its intention to build a sports car, its N performance division will likely have a hand in the development process given its current experience racing in the World Rally Championship.
The sports car will most likely draw inspiration from the PassoCorto, a mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive concept we saw debut earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show.
