Old MGs are great cars for cruising through wooded backroads and airing out your tweed elbow patch jacket. But for one east coast hot rodder, the stock MG TD’s 48 horsepower wasn’t enough. So he did what any sensible person would do and dropped a 350-horsepower V8 into the little MG.
Jay Leno takes a drive in his newly acquired MG with the original owner who built the car in the ’60s. The car has run as fast as 10.70 in the quarter-mile but now serves duty as a high-powered cruiser on the L.A. streets. Leno also replaces the original front drum brakes with discs to bring braking capabilities more in check with the horsepower. He also answers the burning the question of whether or not the car will do a burnout.
