McLaren‘s upcoming sports car is reportedly set to debut this coming April.

A report from Autocar UK (hat tip to AutoGuide) suggests the McLaren will show the Sports Series at the 2015 New York International Auto Show. Billed as McLaren’s entry-level model, the Sports Series is aimed to compete at the likes of the BMW i8, Mercedes-AMG GT and the Porsche 911 Turbo.

McLaren hasn’t revealed any specific details, but the British automaker says the Sports Series will share its twin-turbo 3.8-litre V8 with the 650S. Rumour has it we can expect “well over” 500 horsepower, a zero-to-100 km/h sprint time of less than four seconds and a top speed above the 180 mph mark.

McLaren hopes to build anywhere between 2,000 to 2,500 examples of the Sports Series each year, putting total company output past 4,000 cars per year.

The 2015 New York International Auto Show’s press days run from April 1 to 2.
