Mini shows off John Cooper Works Concept

A “study car” only, to the disappointment of Mini’s performance-obsessed fans, the  nonetheless offers a glimpse into the next generation of Mini’s top sports model.

In time-honoured JCW style, the concept debuted with features including exclusive paint (Bright Highways Grey), customary Mini red colour accents, exclusive aerodynamic features and new 18-inch light-alloy wheels.

The JCW Concept is based on the newest Mini, which made its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show this past November. Its origins are clearly recognizable in the longer wheelbase and wider track over the outgoing model. Large air intakes — filling the space reserved for fog lights in the production Mini — and air channels mark out the front apron of the JCW Concept, which also features LED headlights and a black surround for the front grille. The model-specific aerodynamic kit also comprises specially contoured side skirts and a rear apron with flaps and a diffuser. The study car further features a roof spoiler and additional body components designed to channel air around the C-pillars for better aerodynamic balance at high speeds.
