Following its surprise appearance in this year’s Super Bowl commercial, Nissan has given us another look at the next-generation Maxima.

Based on the Sports Sedan Concept we saw at last year’s Detroit Auto Show, the 2016 Maxima is billed as Nissan’s flagship and the return to the “four-door sports car”, a term the Japanese automaker coined with the third-generation model.

Nissan didn’t announce powertrain details, but we can see the new Maxima now wears Nissan’s so-called V-motion design language up front and a “floating” roof, similar to the redesigned Murano.

Expect the new Maxima to make its debut at this year’s New York International Auto Show, which kicks off April 1.
