Volkswagen has dropped two sketches for a concept we’ll see debut next week.
It’s called the Sport Coupe Concept GTE, and it’s powered by a plug-in hybrid drivetrain that errs on the side of performance rather than outright efficiency. A turbocharged engine powering the front wheels, while two electric motors drive the rear axle to form an all-wheel-drive setup.

As for the styling, the Sport Coupe GTE is most definitely aggressive and follows the “four-door coupe” formula with its raked roofline and an Audi A7-style hatch design.
Volkswagen says the Sport Coupe Concept GTE will preview a new model that’s due for a redesign very soon — and given the styling, we’re willing to bet this will become the next-generation CC.
