Audi‘s exceptionally hot RS3 is coming to North America.

Speaking to Automotive News at the New York Auto Show last week, Audi of America CEO Scott Keogh confirmed the information. Following the Golf Alltrack, the RS3 is the next model from the Volkswagen Group headed to our shores after being sold almost exclusively in Europe in the past.

There is one catch, though – while the RS3 is a hatchback in Europe, the North American-spec model will be a sedan, like the rest of the A3 and S3 lineup. Since the A3 went sedan-only in Canada and the U.S. two years ago, sales have exploded.

Other than the change in body style, the RS3 will remain the same; it’ll still be powered by a turbocharged 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine, pumping out 367 horsepower and 343 lb.-ft. of torque. All-wheel-drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission will be standard fare.
