ATLANTA — A German automaker has opened its North American headquarters in metro Atlanta.
Porsche officials were joined by Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal and others for the opening of the US$100-million Porsche Experience Center near the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
The 27-acre facility is located on the former site of a Ford assembly plant that was in production for almost 60 years. The facility is the automaker’s first investment outside of Germany.
The Porsche Experience Center includes a 1.6 mile driver development track, a driving simulator lab, a retail store for Porsche branded items, conference and event space, and a restaurant.
Officials say the facility will also include a classic car gallery and restoration centre along with technical training facilities.
