Hot on the heels of the diesel-powered Frontier, a report out of TFLTruck suggest a pair of seriously impressive power numbers for Nissan’s upcoming diesel V8 Titan.
The Cummins V8 engine is rumoured to produce about 275 horsepower and 560 lb.-ft. of torque, a mighty torque figure considering the Titan is a half-ton pickup. When Nissan announced the Cummins V8 diesel engine for the Titan last year, it suggested “more than 300 horsepower” and a torque figure “in the mid 500s.”
Currently, the Ram EcoDiesel is the only half-ton pickup to offer a diesel engine, a 3.0-litre V6 with 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. Earlier this week, the Ram EcoDiesel posted fuel economy ratings of 10.6L/100 km in the city and 7.1 on the highway, establishing it as the most fuel-efficient half-ton pickup on the market.
Earlier today, the Frontier Diesel Runner was announced at the Chicago Auto Show. Powered by a 2.8-litre four-cylinder engine manufactured by Cummins, Nissan says it produces roughly 200 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque.
