Nissan is calling back some 320,000 Versa compacts over a rust-related issue with certain suspension components.
According to the NHTSA, Nissan says road salt could corrode front coil springs on Versas built between the 2007 and 2012 model years. Those fractures could then puncture a tire, thus increasing the risk of a collision.
Earlier this year, the NHTSA launched an investigation into the Versa for this exact issue. At that point, about 130,000 owners complained to the safety organization about the fractured springs and rust.
Of the 320,000 cars, 101,000 of them are located in Canada. So far, no injuries or collisions have resulted from the defect.
