Despite revealing the stylish Mazda2 in Montreal last January, Mazda has decided not to launch the newly redesigned car in Canada “following a thorough evaluation of the B-car segment,” according to a statement from Mazda Canada. Low gas prices and the rising popularity of small crossovers combine to make the B-car less and less popular.
Mazda will continue to offer the Mazda2-based CUV, the CX-3. Those still interested in buying a Mazda2 in Canada will be happy to know that it still exists, in rebadged sedan form, as the Toyota Yaris sedan and as the Scion iA in the US.
