The Bentayga has been so popular for Bentley, to the point where the British automaker could be planning another SUV.
Speaking to AutoExpress, company CEO Wolfgang Durheimer says Bentley is looking into “further SUV dervivatives,” meaning we could very well see a model slotting under the Bentayga. Think of it as a baby Bentayga, pegged as a much more luxurious alternative to the likes of the Audi Q5, Jaguar F-Pace and Porsche Macan.
The increased emphasis on SUVs certainly makes sense, given the automaker’s lofty sales goals. By 2018, Bentley wants to sell 15,000 vehicles – and the Bentayga’s targets makes up the largest chunk of that pie, at 12,000 units.
Along with the baby Bentayga, Bentley is reportedly working on a high-performance version of the SUV. It will still be a Bentayga, but with a coupe-like profile, an upgraded version of Bentley’s 6.0-litre 12-cylinder engine under the hood and a top speed past the 320 km/h mark. Naturally, it’ll be pegged as a more upscale competitor to the BMW X6 M and the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 Coupe.
