If you thought hypercars are the only ones interested in one-upping one another with top speed, think again.
Following a recent teaser, details are beginning to trickle out over Bentley’s upcoming SUV. According to Autocar UK, the British automaker is said to be aiming for a top speed of 200 mph, or roughly 321 km/h, when the SUV is released in 2016.
In addition to the suggested top speed, the overall design will be drastically different from the EXP 9F for a couple of reasons. First, the overall design wasn’t well-received when it debuted at the Geneva Motor Show last year. That’s why Bentley’s new design chief, Luc Donckerwolke, is now overseeing the project.
Then there’s the whole bit about aerodynamics: Given the EXP 9F’s boxy proportions and the desired top speed, Donckerwolke will rework the upcoming SUV with sleeker design cues, including a smoother rear end, a lower roofline and underbody aerodynamics.
At the moment, powertrain details have yet to be announced.
