General Motors told its dealers today to stop selling certain Chevrolet Cruze sedans across North America.
According to the Financial Post, the affected 2013 and 2014 model-year Cruze sedans are equipped with the 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The move only covers unsold cars and a recall hasn’t been issued yet, but GM hasn’t explicitly stated why it has issued the stop-sale.
GM Canada spokesperson Faye Roberts says Canadian dealers have also been instructed to stop selling 2013-2014 Cruze sedans with the 1.4-litre turbo, but there were no additional instructions for cars that have already been purchased.
“I don’t have any more details readily available,” she wrote in an email.
These developments follow a recall issued last month covering 1.6-million GM vehicles, including the Chevrolet Cobalt, Pontiac G5 and Saturn Ion compact sedans over defective ignition switches.
