This is one of those moments that are best taken with a very large grain of salt: a new report suggests BMW could begin building the M2 as early as fall of next year.
According to enthusiast forum Bimmerpost (hat tip to AutoGuide), unnamed sources within BMW suggest customers will be able to get their hands on the M2 as early as late 2015 or early 2016.
Pegged as a successor to the 1M Coupe, the M2 will be powered by the company’s twin-turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine, known internally as the N55. The report suggests the M2 will produce anywhere between 365 and 375 horsepower.
Previous rumours indicated a turbocharged four-cylinder was also considered for the car, but it was scrapped in favour of the N55. In addition, unlike the 1M Coupe, the report also suggests the M2 will not see a limited production run.
