Mazda will take to this year’s New York International Auto Show with a birthday celebration for one of the most engaging driver’s cars on the market.
That’s right — marking the 25th anniversary of the Miata, Mazda will bring a handful of historical vehicles to the show next month, enough to warrant a second display separate from the actual Mazda booth. A total of 15 different Miatas will be on display, including past concepts, various production models, special editions and even Miata race cars.
The Miata first made its debut at the 1989 Chicago Auto Show, where it became an instant hit. The next-generation model is expected to debut in the Windy City next year, complete with its trademark fun-to-drive DNA and low curb weight, as well as a platform developed with Alfa Romeo.
